Healthy Babies Are Everyone’s Business
ICTC is a non-profit infant mortality prevention, breastfeeding promotion, and midwife training organization. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon it has members and chapters around the globe. We are comprised of women and men who want to improve birth outcomes and provide training opportunities in their communities. Our mission is to increase the number of midwives, doulas and healers of color to empower families, in order to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
A Doula for Every Community
Through outreach, promotion, lectures, training, social networks, the annual Black Midwives and Healers Conference and through our wonderful volunteers, State and Regional Representatives, supporters and allies, we have educated over 10,000 and trained over three-hundred doulas with eighty-five percent being people of color, and one-third of the doula graduates continuing on to become midwives.
With Your Support
Your contributions are what make it possible to continue our work of reducing infant and maternal mortality across the Nation. We use a multi-level approach to address such issues as poverty, poor nutrition, inadequate prenatal care, the lack of available midwives in communities of color and even the feeling of isolation for pregnant African American and minority women. Help us make a difference today.
