The ICTC Board of Directors wants to inform our supporters of some important information regarding the Black Midwives and Healers Conference. The last biennial conference was held in Portland, Oregon in October of 2015. While its usual rotation would put the next conference in fall of 2017, ICTC will be postponing the conference and we do not yet have a new date for the event.
We know that this will be a disappointment to all of you who have felt the empowerment and collective advocacy that has been present at past conferences. It is rare that Black midwives, doulas and birth workers have the ability to share a space we can call our own, and the conference serves this purpose. However, because we need to focus all of our attention on these critical priorities for ICTC, we have had to make the very difficult decision not to hold the Black Midwives and Healers Conference this year. As soon as we have more information regarding the conference, we will make sure you are the first to know.
We thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
